Built for U.S. parks, resorts, and outdoor venues where capacity and adult comfort matter. Wider wagons, higher load per ride, and ready to generate return at scale from day one.
The Maxi Express is a high-capacity electric trackless train designed for venues where passenger volume and adult comfort are the priority. It runs in amusement parks, zoos, resorts, and large outdoor attractions across the United States. No tracks, no infrastructure investment, no fuel cost.
Wattman has been delivering trackless trains to American operators for over 30 years. The Maxi Express is the preferred choice for venues with high daily foot traffic where maximizing capacity per ride cycle directly impacts revenue.
At 42 inches wide and 74 inches tall, Maxi Express wagons offer significantly more room than compact alternatives. Each wagon carries up to 850 lb, making the Maxi Express the right choice for operations that serve proportionally more adults alongside families.
Every Maxi Express meets EN 13814:2019 and ASTM F2291/F1193 U.S. ride safety standards. Financing options are available for qualified U.S. operators through our Florida-based sales team.

Every Wattman Maxi Express is designed and manufactured to ASTM F2291 and ASTM F1193 — the U.S. standards for amusement ride design, quality, and construction, independently certified by TÜV Nederland. Full documentation is included with every train as standard.
Operating a trackless train with paying guests is a legal responsibility. In 44 U.S. states this triggers mandatory requirements for insurance, annual inspections, and operating permits. Insurers do not issue coverage on uncertified equipment — and many operators only discover this when it is too late.
Not all trains sold into the U.S. market carry the right certifications. CE alone does not satisfy U.S. requirements. Before investing in any train, verify that ASTM certification was issued by a recognized third-party body — not self-declared by the manufacturer.
Both models run on the same proven locomotive and electric drive system. The difference is in the wagons. Choose based on your venue size and the capacity you need per ride cycle.

The Maxi Express Essential Edition carries up to 18 adults and children across two passenger wagons and a caboose. The Classic and Signature Editions add a third passenger wagon, bringing total capacity to approximately 24 adults and children per ride cycle. For children-only operations, capacity reaches up to 32 in the 4-wagon configuration.
No track is required. The Maxi Express is a fully trackless train that operates on standard paved surfaces including asphalt, concrete, and smooth pavement. A turning radius of approximately 21 feet makes it suitable for outdoor parks, resort grounds, and large venue circuits.
The Maxi Express runs on a 48-volt electric drive system. Under normal operating conditions, a full charge supports up to 14 hours of operation in a 3-wagon configuration. Exact runtime depends on route length, gradient, and passenger load.
For more demanding operations, an optional Lithium-Ion battery pack is available. This upgrade delivers extended runtime and faster recharge cycles, making it the preferred choice for operators running multiple daily shifts or longer route circuits.
Every Wattman Maxi Express meets EN 13814:2019 and ASTM F2291/F1193 standards required for U.S. amusement and attraction operations. Full certification documentation is provided with every train to support your local permitting process.
Yes. The Maxi Express is built for both indoor and outdoor operation. For operators in challenging climates, weatherproofing options are available including roll-up windows on all wagons and a windshield on the locomotive. These options allow continuous outdoor operation in rain, wind, and cold conditions.
For year-round outdoor operation, the train should be stored overnight in a dry and well-ventilated space. This protects the electrical system, wood structure, and exterior finish and extends the operational life of the train.
